Fish Swimming Through the Alleys
After finishing tour at the Little Museum, visitors may encounter a large, colorful fish swimming through the village's alleys. This artwork, named "Fish in the Alley," was created by Artist Jin Yeong-seop in 2012. The narrow alleys of Gamcheon Village serve as communication paths for residents, laundry areas for mothers, and family front yards. Consequently, this artwork conveys a message of creating a vibrant living space by depicting a fish freely swimming around the living area.
The large fish in the artwork is constructed by assembling a group of small fish, each adorned with different colors, which are scattered throughout the village's alleys. As there is a sizable open space in front of the artwork, you can capture photographs from various angles. However, for a complete view of the entire fish in the photo, it is recommended to take the picture from the tail side.
If you look above the fish's body, you'll notice grapevines growing on the side of the building. This is another art piece called "A Landscape with Grapes," crafted by Artist Ha Yong-ju in 2012. This artwork portrays a vine with an abundance of grapes stretching out in a way that evokes images of an affluent village. To capture a picture with both artworks, position yourself at the center of the fish and shoot vertically.
