See the stars on the 148 Stairs
As you stroll through the alleys of Gamcheon Culture Village, you'll encounter a staircase known as the '148 Stairs.' It's also referred to as the 'Stairs to See Stars.' Following the staircase to the bottom, you'll arrive at the Gamnae Eoulteo Center building; ascending the stairs leads to the road where the Little Prince and the Desert Fox statues are situated.
The staircase is named the '148 Stairs' due to the number of steps it comprises. However, there's another reason behind its moniker, the 'Stairs to See Stars.' In difficult times of the past, residents who lived atop these stairs had to climb with carrying large bags or yokes laden with water. Climbing such a long and steep staircase while burdened was incredibly exhausting. Midway, they often stopped and adjusted their posture, causing dizziness and resulting in the sensation of seeing stars. This led people to start calling the staircase the 'Stairs to See Stars.'
It's difficult to imagine the hardships faced by people at that time. Presently, the view of the stars on the '148 Stairs' is rare, as buses navigate around the village, and delivery services alleviate the situation. If you're up for the challenge, you could attempt to climb it from the very bottom.
