King Muyeol who ascended to the throne at age 50

The tomb of King Muyeol looks modest compared with other royal tombs.
There are four other tombs clustered behind this tomb. And they are believed to be the tombs of the king's ancestors.

King Muyeol who made historic diplomatic efforts to unify the peninsula ascended to the throne at a later age.

He was 50 years old when he became the king. Then why was that?

His grandfather was a king but became involved in a scandal and ousted from his throne 3 years after his ascendance.

And King Muyeol used his wisdom and diplomatic skills to stabilize and unite the kingdom and laid the foundation for unification of the peninsula.

Always doing his best at his job, he earned a lot of respect from the people and officials.
And finally he took the throne at the age of 50.

But unfortunately he died at age 57 when the unification of the peninsula was just around the corner, and his son completed the unification that he always dreamed of. Although he did not see a unified Silla in his life, his efforts and achievements that led to the unification remained alive for a long time in the hearts of Silla people.
