Fortress Wall
Busosanseong Fortress has a perimeter of 2,495m. The bottom width is 5-6m, and the height is around 3m.
A rammed earth technique was used to build the fortress walls. This technique was also used in constructing Naseong City Wall. The construction work began by erecting two rows of supporting wood to prevent the earth from being swept away. The fortress was then built inside these supports by alternately tamping down layers of clay soil and decomposed granite soil. On the outside, trimmed stones were used for simple reinforcement in order to prevent the wall from slipping down the steep incline. Additionally, a rammed layer was built inside the central earthwork for extra support.
