Busosanseong Fortress is a fortress built around Busosan Mountain and is predicted to be part of the fortress of Sabi, the 6th century capital of Baekje. It was constructed to protect Buyeo, which once served as the capital of Baekje. Notably, Busosan Mountain holds historical significance related to the Baekje kingdom, including the Gwanbuk-ri archaeological site.
Atop the eastern peak of Busosanseong Fortress and Busosan Mountain stands Yeongilu Pavilion, which has a storied history. Initially erected during the 8th year of King Gojong's reign (1871), it served as the main gate of the Hongsan Government Office during the Joseon Dynasty. In 1964, it was relocated to its present position and renamed Yeongilu from its previous name, Jiphongjeong.
Yeongilu boasts a two-story pavilion structure with three spaces on the front and two on the sides. Its gable roof, when viewed from the side, resembles the shape of the Chinese character for eight (八). Additionally, there was once a terrace known as Yeongwaldae, intended for moon viewing. However, at some undisclosed point in time, the purpose of the site was transformed, and it now serves as a venue for enjoying the sunrise.
