Cheongdong Jijang Bosalsang of Doseonsa
“So, this is Doseonsa Temple! Look over there! Is that Cheongdong Jijang Bosalsan, the bronze statue of Ksitigarbha or the Earth Treasury King of the Great Vow Bodhisattva?”
“Yes! Dad, take a look at this! (reading) It says that the bronze statue of Ksitigarbha bodhisattva of Doseonsa was enshrined at a memorial ceremony for Cheongdam Daejongsa, or the Great Patriarch, who served as the abbot of the temple, and it then became a popular prayer spot!
“That’s right! This bronze statue of Ksitigarbha Bodhisattva was sent by a Japanese temple as a symbol of respect toward the Great Patriarch Cheongdam for his great teaching.”
“Dad, who is Ksitigarbha Bodhisattva?”
“Ksitigarbha is a compassionate bodhisattva, who has vowed to save all sentient beings from hell, heaven and earth as well as the human world.”
“Oh, I see! Then, what kind of person is he?”
“Although Ksitigarbha Bodhisattva had already attained enlightenment, he decided to save all sentient beings by voluntarily entering hell and sacrificing himself.”
“Wow, I must pay a visit and thank Ksitigarbha Bodhisattva whenever I come to Doseonsa Temple!”
“That’s a good idea! Hahahaha…”
