Hoguk Chamhoewon of Doseonsa
“Hoguk Chamhoewon of Doseonsa was founded in 1968 for the development of Korean Buddhism and the peaceful unification of our people, by the collective sincerity of many as well as the will of the Venerable Cheongdam, who emphasized the importance of patriotism and repentance in Buddhism.
“The patriotism and repentance in Buddhism refer to the movement to uphold practical aspects in our daily lives, based on Buddhist characteristics of each time period: the unification prayer of the Silla Kingdom, the patriotic wish of the Goryeo Dynasty, the salvation petition of the Joseon Dynasty, and the peaceful benediction of modern times.”
“Hoguk Chamhoewon of Doseonsa is a practicing space, while at the same time, it is a breathing room for our cultural properties. Enshrined in the spacious dharma hall, Amitabha Buddha, or the Infinite Life Buddha, and Mahasthamaprapta, the Bodhisattva of Great Power of Wisdom, were designated cultural properties during the late Joseon Dynasty period and illustrate the ancient history of Doseonsa Temple.”
"As a comprehensive practice center leading Buddhism in our daily lives, Hoguk Chamhoewon’s door is always wide open to everyone.”
