Songdo Cloud Trail in Seo-gu, Busan is a 365-meter long seatrail. It’s installed at a height of 5.5 to 9 meters above the sea near Geobukseom Island on the east side of Songdo Beach. Unlike most of the other sea trails, it is impressively curved. It’s because the bridge was designed in the flowing shape of a dragon navigating through the sea. It’s based on a Geobukseom Island’s legend of a young fisherman and the dragon king’s daughter.

Once upon a time, a young fisherman lived in Songdo with his single mother. One day, he fell in love with Princess Inryoung, the daughter of the dragon king. Inryoung, who was also a dragon, wanted to marry the fisherman. She decided to pray for a thousand days in the dragon cave to become a human. However, on the last day of her prayer, Inryoung was attacked by a sea monster. The fisherman bravely fought with the monster. After a deadly fight, he did save the princess and defeated the sea monster, but he lost his own life and became a spirit of the sea. Princess Inryoung didn’t become a human, either. Instead, she turned into a half-human half-dragon. The dragon king, who took pity on this, turned the fisherman into Geobuksom Island, so he could be with Princess Inryoung forever. It’s said that the island gives longevity and wealth to those who visit. If a man and a woman who are in love with each other visit, the island blesses their love.

Visiting the trail is a fulfilling experience in multiple ways. Part of the floor of the skywalk is made of tempered glass. It’s a thrilling experience to see the waves through the glass. You may even feel like you are walking on the ocean. The trail is open from 6 am to 11 pm every day. In the daytime, if you look up to the sky, you can see the colorful Busan Air Cruise cable cars. You can also enjoy the beautiful view of Songdo Beach as you walk along the trail. At night, the suspension bridge reflected in the night sea and the lights around Songdo Beach create a romantic scene.
