Hyeon In Plaza
Fall in love with the songs and memories of the national singer Hyeon In
Student:
I hear music from somewhere…A snowstorm blowing …♫
Teacher:
It’s “Be Strong, Geum-soon” by Hyeon In!
It’s because this is the Hyeon In Plaza, which was established to commemorate the national singer Hyeon In, who is from Busan.
Student:
He must have been a very famous singer if there is a plaza named after him.
not know Hyeon In.
Born in Yeongdo, Busan in 1919, Hyeon In is a first-generation popular singer and representative singer of Korea in the 1950s.
He released more than 160 popular songs, including his debut 〈The Moonlight Night in Shilla〉, 〈Rainy Gomoryeong〉, and 〈Be Strong, Geum-soon〉.
Hyeon In's songs reflect the ups and downs of our modern history and has been loved by many as it soothes the hearts of the people who had to live through hard times from the Japanese colonial period to the Korean War.
Teacher:
Hyeon In spent a lot of time at Songdo Beach in his childhood and dreamed of becoming a singer. When he grew older, he visited from time to time to rest and worked on his songs.
Since the death of Hyeon In in 2002, the Songdo Festival has been held at Songdo Beach every summer since 2005 to commemorate the singer and discover talented new singers.
Hyeon In Plaza was built in August 2007 by the Seo-gu Office to reflect the wishes of Busan citizens for the Hyeon In Song Festival to develop into a global music festival beyond a domestic one.
Student:
I hope the next national singer that follows Hyeon In will be discovered at the Hyeon In Song Festival that represents Busan.
