Guryongso, Birobong Peak
Guryongsa Temple is located here at Chiaksan Mountain, and the Guryongsa Valley is covered with deep, flat, and lush forests in a cool stream that overflows, creating a unique atmosphere throughout the four seasons with abundant supply and clear water.
The landscape extends from Guryongso to Guryongsa Temple is beautiful, and the valley that passes through Guryong Falls to Seryeom Falls leading up the valley is breathtaking.
Guryongso at the edge of Guryongsa valley has extremely clean water so it is difficult to tell how deep it is! The legend of the nine dragons related to this place is the reason why this it is called Guryongso, or Nine Dragon Lake!
After reaching Birobong Peak, 1,288 meters above sea level of Chiaksan Mountain, there’s Guryongsa Temple! The stone tower is rugged but also magnificent and majestic.
To reach Birobong Peak, we also came up Namdaebong, Hyangnobong Peaks, and Maehwasan Mountain. The view of the mountain changes according to the season, so it attracts many climbers and tourists to visit Birobong Peak throughout the year!
It is clear that the fame of Guryongsa Temple grew due to its location near Birobong Peak. Standing here on Birobong Peak, it seems as if the majestic sound of the dharma bell from Guryongsa temple has traveled all the way to the top of the peak!
