Jijangjeon, the Judgment Hall, of Gwaneumsa Temple

“Jijang Bosal,” the Bodhisattva of Hell, vowed to save all beings suffering in hell. So, he personally entered hell to teach these sinners how to save themselves. The Jijangjeon Hall of Gwaneumsa Temple was rebuilt in 1971 after being burned down during the April 3 Jeju Uprising. Bongnyeonggak Hall was created to hold memorial tablets for these deceased spirits of the tragedy and help them attain rebirth in the Pure Land by holding memorial services. It was also a place to praise the virtuous devotees of Gwaneumsa Temple.
