Queen Alyeong, who was born of a dragon

This place is Alyeong Well where Queen Alyeong was born. This is the only place in Korea linked to the birth legend of a queen.

Now, shall we find out how Alyeong, the first Queen of Silla and Park Hyeok-geo-se's wife, was born?

On the day Park Hyeok-geo-se was born from an egg, another strange thing happened at the well named Alyeong.
An old woman who came to the well to draw water found a dragon inside.

And a baby girl was born from the dragon's left side.
Then the dragon flew into the sky.

The baby girl had fair skin and beautiful eyes. But her lips were shaped like the beak of a chicken.

How odd.. Such a pretty baby girl has the beak of a chicken.

The old woman took the baby to a nearby stream to bathe her, then suddenly the beak fell off.
Later the old woman named the baby Alyeong, after the name of the well where she was found, and raised her with love. Alyeong grew up to become a bright and beautiful woman, and became the Park Hyeok-geo-se’s queen.
