How was it? The path we’ve been through is truly wonderful. Despite a slight incline, it’s not too steep, and it provides an atmosphere where you can peacefully enjoy nature.
Right here, we have the rock with the inscription Baekseokdongcheon. The term ‘Dongcheon,’ signifying a place where a divine hermit resides or a path leading to the heavens, can be found not only here but in other place names as well. In Jongno alone, you can find Cheonggyedongcheon and Samgye dongcheon. Also, in Buyong-dong Garden on Bogildo Island, you can find Dongcheon Stone Chamber, created by the prominent mid-Joseon poet Gosan Yun Seondo. We’re standing in a place just like that.
Now, if you walk just a bit further from here, the forest path of Baeksasil will come to an end. 아, But there’s no need to be disappointed because the following path is also exceptionally beautiful.
As you leave the valley, you’ll transition from a natural setting to man-made spaces. It feels like you’ve traveled through time from the Joseon period to the present day. The path from here to our next destination, Changuimun Gate, is also beautiful.
After leaving the forest path, make sure to turn left and follow the road. Don’t forget to enjoy the scenery on both sides of the road. As the road winds and inclines slightly, you’ll be rewarded with splendid views of Bukhansan and Inwangsan Mountains in the distance. There are cafes along the way, so feel free to take a break.
A bit further up, there's a downhill section on the road. On the left side of our path, you’ll see the road we previously explored – the Bugaksan Road, which is the former Bugak Skyway. To the left of the point where the road and the path meet, you’ll find our next destination, Changuimun Gate. It’s one of the gates in the Hanyangdoseong, also known as Jahamun.
Now, let’s head to Jahamun and continue our story.
