Jodo Island, Hodo Island, Namhae

Jodo Island in Mijo-myeon, Namhae-gun, is an island located in front of Mijo Fishing Port. It is referred to as "Saeseom" (Bird Island) because its shape resembles a flying bird. When viewed from a distance, it appears to be two islands; the larger one with a village is called "Keunseom“ (Big Island), while the smaller one is called Jodo Island. It was originally two separate islands, but they were connected to one by an embankment.

Mijo Fishing Port, a cozy harbor surrounded by mountains, is the gateway to Jodo Island and Hodo Island derives its name from the legend "the village helped by Mireuk." Visitors can enjoy the picturesque coastline and the blue sea while immersing themselves in a quiet and leisurely rest. The representative historical site in Mijo Fishing Port is Muminsa Shrine and it was built to honor General Choi Yeong from the Goryeo Dynasty, who embodied the spirit of patriotism. It sits on an auspicious site that overlooks Mijo Fishing Port.

Jodo Island and Hodo Island provide a special experience through the Namhaebarae-gil, a trail that was created on the island, allowing visitors to walk around these two beautiful islands in Namhae in just a day. On the first island trail of Namhaebarae-gil, Jodo Island, and Hodo Barae-gil, visitors can view the scenic views composed of various unique rock formations.
