Dochodo Island, Sinan
Dochodo Island, located in Docho-myeon, Sinan-gun, Jeollanam-do, is the largest island among the surrounding islands. It is often referred to as "Dochido Island" because the shape of the island resembles that of a hedgehog.
Dochodo Island is particularly popular during the summer because of its iconic flower, the hydrangea. Dochodo Island Hydrangea Park boasts over 100 types of hydrangeas, with more than two million blooms creating a breathtaking view.
The "Fantasy Garden," a combination of hydrangeas and hackberries, is a representative attraction on Dochodo Island. More than 700 hackberry trees form a tunnel, and hydrangeas, rainbow pink flowers, and red-hot pokers bloom underneath to add to the beauty. The Fantasy Garden extends about 3.5 km from Hwapo Wharf, known as the 'Hackberry 10 ri-gil.' The hackberry trees were donated and transplanted from various regions, and each one has a name tag indicating its place of origin.
Other attractions include the dazzling beaches of Simok Beach, which is part of Dadohaehaesang National Park; a walking trail between Black Pine Grove and the heart beach of Bigeumdo Island, which is connected by Dochodo Island and a bridge. Come enjoy and experience the diverse charms of Dochodo Island, where the sea, flowers, and trees all come together in harmony.
