Hansando Island, Tongyeong
Hansando lsland, located in Hansan-myeon, Tongyeong-si, Gyeongsangnam-do, is the main island of Hansan-myeon and the largest among the 29 islands comprising the Hansan-myeon. Hansando Island is famous as a travel destination that has a wide variety of attractions connected by Yeondogyo Bridge, including Chubongdo Island and historical sites such as Jeseungdang Hall, along with fresh sashimi, fishing, swimming, and various sea experiences. It is also known for being the site of the historical Chubong Prisoner-of-War Camp, providing a combination of leisure and historical exploration.
As the beginning of Hallyeo Haesang National Marine Park and the site of the renowned Hansan Battle, Hansando Island attracts tourists throughout the year. Many visitors come to see historical sites such as Jeseungdang Hall, built when Chungmugong Yi Sun-sin moved the navy headquarters of the three provinces to Hansando Island.
Visiting Hansando Island in April allows you to see the beautiful cherry blossoms blooming along the Hansanilju-ro. It is said that the cherry blossom trees were planted by the residents to commemorate the opening of the Hansanilju-ro, creating a beautiful landscape that harmonizes with the sea.
Besides Hansando Island, Tongyeong also takes pride in owning other islands with various charms, such as Somaemuldo Island, known for its stunning coastal cliffs; Chubongdo Island, renowned for its beautiful nights; and Yokjido Island, famous for its suspension bridge.
