Hahwado Island, Yeosu
Hahwado Island, located in Hwajeong-myeon, Yeosu-si, Jeollanam-do, is named "Flower Island" because, during the Japanese invasions of Korea, Jang from Indong was the first to set foot on the island, and camellias, sedges, and azaleas were in full bloom at that time. Sanghwado Island, located in the north, is given the nickname "Utkkotseom," while Hahwado Island, located in the south, is given the nickname "Araekkotseom."
On Hahwado Island, you can enjoy the natural landscapes such as breathtaking sea cliff and a dulle trail where you can enjoy the beautiful flowers. Also, at the suspension bridge named “Kkotseom Bridge”, you can glance the stunning scenery, which is why this island is a representative attraction in Yeosu-si that attracts many visitors.
Besides the suspension bridge, there is a flower-adorned dulle trail, named “Kkotseom-gil,” and is considered the treasure of Hahwado Island. This trail also has a 5.7 km trekking course along the coastline. If you choose to walk around by following the trail from the pier, it takes approximately 3 hours. While you are on your way, remember not to miss the flowers on Hahwado Island! Also, if you look closer to the surroundings, you will notice some murals along the way, even if the murals are not created by famous artists, they are still some of the simple yet carefully crafted works.
