Daehangno
Daehangno is a cultural street in Seoul's Jongno District, stretching from Jongno 5-ga to Hyehwa-dong Rotary. It is renowned as the heart of performing arts in South Korea. Centered around Marronnier Park, Daehangno is home to numerous artistic organizations, theater companies, and cultural facilities, making it a beloved landmark in Seoul that attracts many visitors.
In Daehangno, you can enjoy different kinds of street performances as well as plays and musicals in small to medium-sized theaters. It can truly be called the cradle of K-culture, loved worldwide.
Every day, Daehangno hosts a variety of festivals, both large and small. Among these, the “Welcome Daehakro Festival,” held annually every autumn since 2017, is a representative performance tourism festival. The festival features a lot of K-performance showcases, along with delightful eateries, cafes, and guided tours of the storied alleyways of Daehangno. The highlight of the festival is the opening ceremony, which features a grand performance.
