Hallyeohaesang National Park, which embraces the southern sea of the Korean Peninsula, is home to the Bada Bangnigil Street that stretching across six islands. This trail is not newly constructed but long been served as a path where island residents would gather firewood from the mountains or naturally use it to support their family livelihoods from the old times. If you leisurely walk along the trail and taking in the scent of the island, you will be drawn into the story of the islander, making Bada Bangnigil Street an attractive trail.

Bada Bangnigil Street stretches across six islands from Mireukdo Island, Hansando Island, Bijindo Island, Yeondaedo Island, Maemuldo Island, and Somaemuldo Island. Why don’t we explore the attractive trails on each of these islands together?

First, on Mireukdo Island, you will find “Dara-gil Street” with a gentle slope combining three scenic elements of the ocean, a cypress forest, and a scenic trail. Next, Hansando Island features the “History Trail” which steeped in the story of Admiral Yi Sun-sin. This trail offers a special experience that combines history and walking themes of both history and walking. Through this trail, you can walk in the footsteps of the Admiral Yi Sun-sin. On Bijindo Island, there is “Sanho-gil Street” named after a coralline ocean covering the island. As you walk, you will be amazed by the stunning ocean view.

On Yeondaedo Island, you will find the “Jiget-gil Trail”, a path created with a pain and sorrow of the island residents. In every season and section of the trail, it offers something different and new, making it an interesting and attractive walk, In Maemuldo Island, there is “Haepum-gil Trail” along the ocean with camellia grove and seashore cliff. Along the way, you will encounter public artwork installation reflecting the lifestyle and culture of Maemuldo Island . Finally, on Somaemuldo Island, there is “Deungdae-gil Trail” filled with attractions such as greenwood, Maemuldo Customs Museum, breathtaking views, and Sighting of Finless Porpoise. One of the highlights of this trail is the “Mongdol-gil”, which appears between Somaemuldo Island and Deungdaeseom Island during low tide, just like the miracle of Moses from ancient time. This transformation allows you to enjoy a special experience by walking across to the lighthouse in the right time.
