Naejangsan Cable Cars
Naejangsan Mountain is one of the five most famous mountains in Honam, alongside Jirisan Mountain and Wolchulsan Mountain. Naejangsan Mountain is known for its vibrant red glow in the fall. Although the main hiking trail spans 11.7 km and takes about 7 hours, which may be challenging for beginners, there’s an easy way to enjoy the views, the Naejangsan cable cars.
Shall we go ride the Naejangsan Cable Car together? First, we’ll enjoy the beautiful Uhwajeong Pavilion. According to legend, this pavilion was so beautiful that it sprouted wings and ascended into heaven. As we continue along the path, we arrive at the Naejangsan Cable Car Station. Once on board, you’ll be able to see Naejangsan Mountain sprawling beneath you, a view especially stunning in autumn when red and gold foliage showcase their vibrant beauty. After about a five-minute ride, we reach the top. From here, trails lead to Yeonjabong Peak and Sinseonbong Peaks, offering further exploration. A short, ten-minute walk along the path will take you to the Observatory.
Naejangsan Mountain attracts over one million visitors every year, with around 35%, mostly 350,000 people, visiting during the fall alone. To accommodate demand, Naejangsan Cable Cars operate every 20 minutes during the off-peak season and more frequently in the autumn peak. Please be aware that wait times may be longer during the fall, as many come to view Naejangsan Mountain’s famous foliage. Vehicle access is restricted in the park during the autumn season, so we suggest taking a shuttle bus or walking from the parking lot to the cable car station.
