Seongshinsa
The Seongshinsa was a shrine which venerated the gods of the Hwaseong Fortress. King Jungjo himself would write the scripts for the veneration rites and oversee the ceremony, showing his affection for the place.
The Seongshinsa is also the only shrine the Japanese Empire altered. The Japanese originally planned to build a Shinto shrine at its place, but as furious citizens blocked it, the Seongshinsa structure was moved to the side. The original site was left empty for a long time, until it was restored to its original form in October 2011.
