Bukammun

This rainbow shaped gate is the Bukammun, another one of the secret gates. Isn’t it surprising that such a beautiful gate, so conspicuous, was a secret gate? But this is also a type of camouflage, as no one would have thought such a beautiful gate would be a secret gate.

The Bukammun is situated in the southern corner of the Banghwasuryujeong, and not easily seen from outside the Fortress. The door is inlaid with timber, and is hard to open. Thus, the Bukammun has the various characteristics that made such a perfect secret gate.
