Yeonmudae
The Jangdae was where the general would stand and order his troops. They were normally built on fortresses or beams by piling stones.
Hwaseong has the Seojangdae and the Dongjangdae – the latter was where soldiers were trained during normal times, and the Seojangdae was used during actual wartime. The Dongjangdae was also called the Yeonmudae, which meant a place where people practiced martial arts.
Should we walk around the Yeonmudae? Although it is now a quiet lawn, this place once bustled with armed men and horses 210 years ago. The large yard to the back is still used as an archery range.
