Dongbuk Nodae

The Dongbuk Nodae was where soldiers could observe approaching enemies and signal nearby allies. The Nodae was originally used as an archery post, but in Hwaseong it had the role of alerting the castle of the enemy’s status.

When the Fortress’ main command post, the Seojangdae, gave its orders, the Seonodae would wave flags with five different colors to relay the message to the Seonodae. The Dongbuk Nodae would then receive and carry out the message.
