Jwaingmun

Jwaingmun

The name “Jwaing” of the Jwaingmun comes from “helping from nearby”. The writing on paper on the gate, the Pyeonaek, was written by literary official Jung Dongjun under King Jungjo’s orders.
You can observe that the floor of the Jwaingmun consists of uneven stones. These are called Bakseok. It normally protects our eyes by diffusing bright light, and prevents water from forming puddles during rain.
