The center of Cheongju’s trend and tourism


There is a place called ‘Seongan-gil’, located just north of Yukgeori Market, and it has got its name in that it was called ‘the inside the wall’ (seongan) of the old Cheongju town wall. This is one of the busiest parts of the town, and with Sangdang-gu office as the center that is in the middle of the street, there are many restaurants, shops, and movie theaters for people to get around and enjoy.

The area called Rodeo Street in Seongan-gil filmed a drama called, “Doctors,” with a famous Korean actress Park Shin-hae. In one of its scenes, the actress was on the run with her friends in this area. In a movie called “The Veterans,” which was seen by more than ten million moviegoers in Korea, actors Hwang Jeong-min and Yu A-in filmed a fight scene at Seongan-gil, making this place even more famous.

A five-minute drive from Seongan-gil, there is a famous tourist site called Suamgol. It is a place that served as setting for many Korean dramas including: ‘Cain and Abel,’ starring So Ji-seop and Han Ji-min and ‘Healer,’ starring Ji Chang-wook and Park Min-young.
