Jeonju Bibimbap—Crafted with Tradition and Care

Welcome to your K-local food trip. Up next is "Jeonju Bibimbap"—a colorful bowl that looks as good as it tastes.

"Bibimbap" is warm rice topped with spinach, bracken, bean sprouts, beef, and egg—then mixed with Gochujang (Red Chili Paste) and sesame oil. This traditional Korean dish, with its sweet and spicy kick, has long been loved by everyone—from kings to everyday folks.

Among all regions, Jeonju is known as the true home of "Bibimbap." As you wander through the narrow alleys of Jeonju’s Hanok Village, you’ll come across quiet old homes serving "Bibimbap" made with a traditional touch.

There’s one special ingredient you’ll only find in "Jeonju Bibimbap." It’s called "Hwangpomuk"—a yellow mung bean jelly known as a gourmet delicacy. This yellow jelly is made by adding natural coloring from gardenia to white mung bean jelly. It gives "Bibimbap" a brighter and more beautiful color.

The rice is cooked in beef bone broth, which gives it a rich and deep flavor. Each grain stays separate, so when you mix it with the toppings, it doesn’t stick or break apart.

The real charm of "Jeonju Bibimbap" comes from its name. "Bibim" means mixing everything together with a spoon, right at the table. Don’t you wonder how it will taste when all those colors and flavors come together? Come to Jeonju and try the deep, rich flavor of "Bibimbap"—only found here.
