Subong Park, A Place Where Starlight Stays

Nightscapes of Korea takes you to places where the night shines even brighter.
Today’s journey leads us to Subong Park in Incheon—a place where the city’s history blooms beneath the stars.

Nestled along Mt. Subongsan in Incheon’s Michuhol District, Subong Park offers sweeping views of the city below. Once a military outpost, it became an amusement park in 1979—bringing joy and memories to children—and today, it remains a cherished retreat for the people of Incheon.

Reflecting Incheon’s changing history, Subong Park is home to a wide range of community sports facilities—from playgrounds and nature classrooms to archery ranges, badminton, tennis, and basketball courts.
It’s also a place of remembrance, with monuments like the Hyunchungtap, a memorial honoring those who served.

Subong Park is especially famous for its nightscape—it was even named one of Incheon’s Top 10 Night Views in 2018. From sunset to 11 p.m., the park hosts the “Starlight Festival,” where eight themed courses inspired by starlight and memory come alive with colorful lights and art installations, creating a dreamlike atmosphere straight out of a fairytale.

The journey begins at the entrance near the cultural center with “Starlight Dream,” a glowing pink path. Next comes “Starlight Walk,” a forest trail sparkling like the Milky Way; “Starlight Amusement Park,” which evokes memories of Subong’s beloved theme park; and “Star of Birth,” where twinkling lights form a radiant galaxy path. Then there’s “Night of Counting Stars,” a celestial forest trail lit in violet and guided by mystical animals, “Garden of Memory,” where forest spirits guard the memorial tower, “Fountain of Memory,” a scenic overlook with sweeping views of Michuhol, and finally “Harmony of Light,” where white starlight dances over an artificial waterfall, illuminating the history of Michuhol. Subong Park offers more than just a night view—it's a one-of-a-kind evening stroll where history, memory, and nature come together.

On this gentle, starlit night, why not take a walk through the stories that linger in Subong Park and find your own moment?
