Welcome to K-Culture Travel. This time, our journey takes us to Jumunjin Beach in Gangneung, the place where a lonely and radiant god once stayed.
Located at the northern tip of Gangneung, along the blue East Sea, it's a beautiful beach where clear, shallow waters, white sand, and the sound of waves blend harmoniously with the charm of a small fishing village. Beyond the cool shade of pine trees and cozy camping spots, the nearby Hyangho Reservoir is a peaceful place for freshwater fishing and quiet conversations. By day, the sea shines blue, and by night, the gentle glow of the waves lights up the shore. It’s a place where the romance and youth of Gangneung flourish, and friends,
couples, and families can share unforgettable moments.
With its mysterious and magical atmosphere, Jumunjin Beach became the filming location for one of the most iconic scenes in the drama Goblin. The scene of the first meeting was filmed right here at Jumunjin Beach. Here, Kim Shin, the goblin living under an immortal curse, meets Ji Eun-tak, the human bride destined to free him, for the first time.
Kim Shin: “Is it you?”
Ji Eun-tak: “What?”
Kim Shin: “Were you the one who called me?”
Ji Eun-tak, who has grown up in hardship, sits alone on the breakwater at Jumunjin Beach, spending her lonely birthday. As she makes a lonely wish and blows out the candle on her cake, Kim Shin, the goblin, appears right behind her. When Kim Shin hands Ji Eun-tak the buckwheat flower, the cloudy sky suddenly turns clear. The buckwheat flower, which means “lover,” perfectly symbolizes this moment as the beginning of their shared fate. Their hearts slowly grow closer.
Now, amidst the silver waves of Jumunjin Beach, why not create a magical moment with someone you love? Here, where time seems to stop, your memories will drift on the gentle waves and shine brightly.
