The figurines surrounding the mounted soldier represent the warriors of Gaya. Their features were reconstructed from evidence gleaned from excavated bones and relics. Despite fighting together, each warrior’s appearance signifies distinct ranks.
Starting with the warrior on the right, representing the highest rank among the four, adorned in delicate, luxurious scale body armor covering the neck, waist, and arms. Holding a large sword in the right hand, his shield features a pinwheel design, reflecting cultural exchange between Gaya and Japan.
Moving to the adjacent warrior clad in bronze armor, indicating a lower rank. Though not as effective as scale armor, bronze armor still offered considerable protection.
The third warrior, appearing more modest than the previous two, represents a lower rank where protection in battle was challenging. However, this warrior is in a better condition than the lowest-ranked one, lacking armor or a shield, armed only with a spear.
The display highlights the varying armor among warriors according to their rank, while underscoring their equal dedication to battle.
