Weapons and Armor of Dae Gaya
When stone, wood and bronze were the only materials for producing weapons, the faction carrying iron had the power. Assyria of the Mesopotamian Culture of the Middle East also became the ruler of the area with its superior iron manufacturing technology. Iron was the most critical factor in deciding the fate of ancient nations.
Dae Gaya handled iron as dexterously as they handled clay, and they produced various iron weapons, armor, and helmets.
Let’s look at the helmet first. This helmet was made by threading tens of uniformly sized thin and long pieces of iron. You can see its exquisite work.
The armor was made by connecting wide iron plates. Its shoulder line and smooth waist line are impressive. This type of armor would change in shape so that it was more comfortablefor its wearer.
After the 5th Century, scale armor was made by connecting scale-shaped pieces of iron.
This is because the battle method changed to cavalry battles.
In the past, plate armor was worn because of infantry-centered battles. But soldiers who rode horses into battle started to wear scale armor for better movement.
Along with armor, weapons changed as well.
If you look at the arrowhead, the back is longer for improved attacking power.
While weapons are used to attack, they are also used to show authority and dignity.
Extravagant swords that presumably belonged to the kings and noblemen have fancy gold and silver decorations of dragons and turtles on their hilts.
