Harness
Horses were important for transportation in ancient society.
They were even more important on the battlefield. That’s why many horse-related pieces of equipment were produced and developed.
In order to ride a horse well, equipment such as bits, saddles, and footrests were needed.
Artifacts excavated from the ancient tombs of Dae Gaya include a gilt-bronze horse ornament. Also, the horse was often decorated with a belt and helmet. Dae Gaya was able to produce such a delicate horse helmet due to their excellent iron-handing technology. As the iron manufacturing technology developed, iron weapons developed, and means to protect the horses also developed.
Take a look at the statue exhibited in the central hall. With this statue in the shape of a warrior on horseback, you can easily understand how the horses were decorated back then.
