Jogyesa is undoubtedly special as the first place to embark on the path of Korean Buddhism. Behind the Main Dharma Hall lies the Memorial Hall of Korea Buddhist History and Culture, which greatly aids in a better understanding of the history.
This hall was established to commemorate and continue 1,700 years of Buddhist culture and history that have fostered the development of Korea’s spiritual culture. Within this building, you will find the Central Buddhism Museum, International Symposium Halls, Traditional Cultural Theater, and the Archives of the Jogye Order. Each of these sections offers various programs, providing an opportunity to witness the beauty of Korean Buddhist culture while learning the teachings of Buddha.
The Central Buddhist Museum houses a rare collection of tangible and intangible articles of Buddhist culture. Many of these relics are challenging to maintain in most ordinary temples, making this museum an ideal place to appreciate the most precious artworks of Korean Buddhism.
