Goryeo Celadon is a representative handicraft of the Goryeo Dynasty that holds both practical and decorative value, and was used throughout the entire Goryeo period, from the initial introduction of the production technique toward the end of the tenth century to the fall of the dynasty in 1392.
Goryeo celadon is particularly well known for jade-colored celadon and inlaid celadon; however, jade-colored celadon was not produced from the early period of Goryeo. Just as a person is born, grows up to become an adult, gets old, and finally dies, so Goryeo celadon also assumed distinctive patterns and shapes at each stage of its existence, from its emergence and development to its prime and ultimate decline.
