This celadon pitcher with an inlaid chrysanthemum design was made around the thirteenth century. The pitcher, which is made in the shape of a gourd, forms a set with a small lid that has a ring with a 1.5cm-long point. The mouth of the pitcher is hexagonal, and its gourd-shaped body consists of a spout and a band-like handle, and features six lobes decorated with a black and white inlaid chrysanthemum design. Judging from its transparent, clear bluish glaze, its well-balanced shape, and its surface full of chrysanthemum patterns, this object was most likely made during the golden age of Goryeo celadon. The pitcher was used to keep alcoholic drinks, including wine. The alcohol in the pitcher can be served as a warm or cold drink simply by pouring hot or cold water into the seungban, which is the bowl-like saucer that forms a set with the pitcher. Unfortunately, the original seungban that came with this pitcher has been lost.
