Celadon Bowl with Inlaid Willow, Reed and Waterfowl Design
This celadon bowl with an inlaid willow, reed and waterfowl design dating back to the thirteenth or fourteenth century was used to contain rice, soup, or tea. The inside of the bowl features splendid inlaid work of a peaceful waterfront scene depicting a waterfowl swimming on water and a bird sitting on a willow branch; while the bottom is decorated with a pair of fish. Many celadon vessels made in Buan tend to feature such surrounding scenery or a seasonal view, showing the sentiments of Goryeo people who loved a simple and peaceful daily life.
