The Sword that Sparked a Righteous Army of Kim Do-hyeon
The sword displayed here belongs to Kim Do-hyeon, a righteous army commander who was active in the Yeongyang and Andong regions of Gyeongsangbuk-do Province at that time. The characters "Chang-ui geom" (Sword that Sparked a Righteous Army) engraved on the scabbard seem to display the firm resolve sworn at the start of the righteous army's struggle. Commander Kim Do-hyeon, mourning the loss of his country, walked into the sea and died for his nation in 1914.
